Common Wood Sedge,
Eastern Woodland Sedge

Grown from seed

  • Semi-evergreen, perennial sedge; 1-2’ tall

  • Grows well in both full sun and full shade; tolerates wet to dry soils

  • Short dense clumps make for excellent ground cover; acts as green mulch for nearby taller plants by cooling soil & outcompeting weeds

  • Deep roots prevent soil erosion & stablize hillsides

  • Songbirds, game birds, and small mammals forage on seeds in fall/winter

  • Can spread aggressively via rhizomes in disturbed soils
