Eastern Bottlebrush Grass

NE Ecotype (grown from seed)

  • Perennial grass; 3-5ft tall

  • Cool season grass; summer green spikelets (resembling a bottle brush) turn golden-brown in autumn

  • Grows well in shady conditions, making this species an ideal candidate for woodland restoration or in shade gardens

  • Deep roots prevent soil erosion; great for hillside plantings

  • Host plant to the Northern Pearly Eye

  • Birds and small mammals forage on seeds in fall/winter
