Carolina Rose

NJ Ecotype (Grown from Seed)

  • Similar to Rosa virginiana, but slightly smaller

  • Deciduous shrub; 1-5ft tall

  • Pink flowers with yellow centers; blooms late spring to summer

  • Fall foliage turns gold, orange, and scarlet

  • Easily accessible pollen & nectar attract various pollinators such as bumblebees, butterflies, hoverflies, hummingbirds, and more

  • Produces edible rose hips which are sought after by small mammals, birds (cardinals, blue birds, cedar waxwings, brown thrashers, etc.), and humans

  • Host plant to the Apple Sphinx Moth and the Polyphemus Moth

  • Drought tolerant
