Zig Zag Goldenrod

Grown from seed

  • Herbaceous perennial; 2-3ft tall

  • Small yellow clusters bloom atop zigzagging stems; blooms late summer to early fall

  • A woodland species of goldenrod; thrives in shady locations and various soil conditions

  • Attracts a large number of moth species including the leaf-folding moths Bilobed Dichomeris and Shining Dichomeris; the seed eating, case-bearer moth, Coleophora duplicis; and as a result, a valuable species for sustaining bat populations

  • Can become aggressive; yearly maintenance required in small woodland or shade gardens
