  • Deciduous shrub; 3-5ft tall

  • Pink, upright clustered flowers bloom in summer; fall foliage turns shades of yellow to red

  • Produces more pollen than nectar; primarily attracts bees, beetles and flies; butterflies and moths that feed on this plant include the rare Karner Blue, Sharp-Lined Yellow, Gordian Sphinx, Spirea Leaftier, and New England Buckmoth

  • Due to its woody, branching Root system, it can form dense thickets in ideal conditions (native habitats include wet meadows, marshes & other wetlands); makes for a great shrub in rain gardens
